ROAD TOLL (vejafgift) DK 2025

An important development that will take effect in Denmark from January 2025, which could impact your business. Denmark will introduce a new road user charge for vehicles, commonly referred to as a road toll or “vejafgift.”

What is the Danish road toll?

The road toll is a distance-based charge that applies to heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) over 3.5 tonnes driving on Danish roads, particularly motorways. This toll system aims to reduce CO₂ emissions, contribute to better infrastructure, and promote more environmentally friendly transport across the country. The charges will vary based on the vehicle type, weight, and distance travelled.

Impact on your business

If your company operates HGVs on Danish roads, this new toll will result in additional transport costs. The fees will be calculated based on the kilometres travelled on toll roads and the specific characteristics of the vehicle. It is advisable to factor this cost into your future budgeting and transport planning. You will see this change on your invoice effecting 01 January 2025
